Research

The Research Library is open to the public for $10/day and is free to members for the year of their membership. It contains an extensive collection of local history in the form of books, manuscripts, family histories, maps, newspapers, obituaries, clippings, census records, city directories, periodicals, pamphlets and photographs. Photographs may be reproduced for a small fee and a microfilm machine is available for reproducing articles from a microfilm collection of antique newspapers.

Staff research is available at a minimum of $20/hour, with a one-hour minimum charge. If more than one hour is needed, you will be contacted in advance. Please call at 541-479-7827 for more information. Research fees may be paid online through Paypal. You don't need a Paypal account, just a credit card.

Volunteers are always needed in the library to sort and inventory manuscripts, pamphlets and photographs, maintain clipping files, catalog and index research materials, answer research questions, and mend books and other materials. If you are interested in volunteer work, please contact the library staff at 541-479-7827 or stop in between the hours of 10:00 and 4:00 Tuesday through Friday.
